I’ve been shooting a bow for over 30 years. Initially a compound bow with fingers, next a compound bow with a release, then last year I started learning to shoot a recurve bow. During those years I competed in NFAA, IBO, ASA, and NAA tournaments. I was Indiana State Champion 8 times, 1995 International Bowhunter Organization World Champion, and Mathews Pro Staff shooter for 10 years. In 1997, I decided I wanted to “give back” to the sport by becoming an archery instructor. I received my National Archery Association Level 2 so I could start a JOAD club in Indiana. I continued to develop my archery instructor / coaching skills, obtaining my Level 3 in 2001, and was named 2006 Developmental Archery Coach of the Year. In 2007, I was asked to join the Junior Dream Team coaching staff. I continue to work with our Junior Dream Team as well as provide group archery lessons at Mikes Archery Center in St. Cloud MN, head coach Granite City JOAD Sauk Rapids MN, private instruction at my home in Maple Lake.
